Broadway Across America is the foremost presenter of first-class touring musicals and plays in North America, operating in 40 markets. The Balancing Act and BAA teamed up for a special six-part series, “Broadway Balances America,” that takes you behind-the-scenes of some of the most beloved musicals as they travel across the country—from Boston to Costa Mesa, from Houston to Minneapolis, and everywhere in between.

Pippin tells the coming-of-age story of a young prince in medieval times who is looking for passion and adventure. He finds himself caught between the temptations of following a colorful troupe of acrobatic performers who encourage him to become a soldier in his father’s army, and settling down with his love. With a beloved score that includes such classics as “Magic to Do” and “Corner of the Sky,” sizzling choreography in the style of Bob Fosse, and high-flying circus acrobatics, Pippin will dazzle audiences from coast to coast.

The “Broadway Balances America” segment focuses on the strong women behind this brand new production of the beloved musical and how they balance their lives in the demanding theatre business.

Features include: an interview with Tony® Award winning director Diane Paulus; the circus-effects creator Gypsy Snider talking about the creative process and how she balances her career and family life; composer Stephen Schwartz discussing what Pippin means to him; and on-stage footage of Gypsy training the Leading Player of the trapeze and the acrobats warming up capture the magic of this visually thrilling production.
