The world’s best-loved musical returns in time-honored form and is hitting the road again.  With the original lyricist and director Martin Charnin at the helm, this production of ANNIE is a fresh incarnation of the iconic original. The Balancing Act is on location in Manhattan as the production looks for its new leading young lady. Casting this iconic role is no easy task… as we learn from Charnin, choreographer Liza Gennaro and casting director Joy Dewing,…who speak about finding that special little girls and what it takes for real American families to make sacrifices …balancing their everyday lives while being connected to the demanding theatre industry. The timeless musical ANNIE took center stage on the first segment which aired on August 12th and 19th and special correspondent Amber Milt took viewers to Pearl Studios in Manhattan where young hopefuls were vying for the lead of ANNIE, the musical that tells the beloved story Little Orphan Annie.

The ANNIE segment put a spotlight on young kids and their parents going through the audition process to show what it takes to play one of Broadway’s most cherished roles, and how families keep the balance in their lives with child actors.

Tune in as The Balancing Act hits the road to go on location in Manhattan as the touring production of ANNIE looks for its new leading young lady in this first of a special six-part series, “Broadway Balances America.” This show will re-air on August 19th at 7:00 a.m. (ET/PT) on Lifetime.

“Broadway Balances America” will provide behind-the-scenes excerpts and interviews highlighting the shows that are featured on Broadway Across America’s 2014-2015 Broadway series nationwide – from Boston to Costa Mesa, from Houston to Minneapolis, and everywhere in between. The Balancing Act’s hosts get up close and personal with the casts and crews, even experiencing what it’s like to dance in their shoes.

In this segment, special correspondent Amber Milt takes viewers to Pearl Studios in Manhattan where young hopefuls are vying for the lead in the upcoming touring revival of ANNIE, the musical that tells the beloved story Little Orphan Annie.
