Creating Recipes For Family Traditions

Guest: Bridgford Foods

Bridgford frozen dough makes holiday baking easy, from traditional rolls, to monkey breads, cinnamon rolls to party pizzas. Fill your home with warm, delicious aromas this season that will bring the whole family to the table.

Pepperoni Monkey Bread

1 package Bridgford Parkerhouse Rolls or 1.5 loaves BFBD divided into 48 equal pieces
2 oz sliced Bridgford Pepperoni (about 28 thin slices)
1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
2 tsp dried oregano
½ tsp. garlic powder
½ cup butter, melted

Let dough thaw. If using Bridgford Roll Dough, divide each roll piece in half; set aside. Lightly grease a 12 cup bundt cake pan; set aside. In a medium size bowl, combine Parmesan, oregano, and garlic. With kitchen shears, cut the pepperoni slices into smaller pieces and mix into cheese mixture; set aside. Dip each dough piece in butter and then coat in pepperoni/cheese mixture. Place coated balls of dough evenly in pan. Let the dough rise until double in size. Bake in a 350 degree oven for 35 - 40 minutes or until golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped on top. Remove from oven and invert out of pan upside down on a large plate. Serve with marinara sauce if desired.

Bridgford Cinnamon Rolls

1 loaf Bridgford Frozen Bread Dough, thawed
¼ cup melted butter or margarine
¼ cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
¼ cup raisins (optional)
¼ cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)

Lightly grease a 12 cavity muffin pan or two 8 inch pie or cake pans. Set aside. Roll thawed loaf on a lightly floured surface to an 8 x 12 inch rectangle. Brush dough with half of the butter. Mix cinnamon with sugar and spread over butter. Roll dough up starting from the 12-inch side. Seal seams. Divide log of cinnamon dough into 12 equal size pieces. Place one piece into each muffin tin or divide and place 6 in each prepared pie or cake pan. Brush dough with melted butter. Let rise until double in size. Bake in a preheated 375 degree oven for 20 minutes or until a light golden brown. Remove from oven and brush with additional butter. If desired drizzle with vanilla icing
Icing: mix 2 cups powdered sugar with 2 tablespoons milk or water and ½ teaspoon vanilla extract. Add more milk or water for thinner consistency.
Yield 12 rolls

Pool Safety

Guest: Safety Turtle

As summer begins and we head to the pool for swimming, barbeques, and parties it’s also a great time to exercise pool safety.

One way you can add an extra layer of drowning prevention for children and pets is by using a pool alarm product like The Safety Turtle which activate an alarm immediately once a child or pet comes in contact with water.

SFX: Alarm going off

While pool alarms should never replace adult supervision, they are a great way to ensure that additional layer of safety… and peace of mind.
Just in time for summer fun!

Rescuing Is The Right Way

Guest: Organic Works Marketing

Most of us feel our pets are part of the family. The greenest choice you can make when it comes to your pet is to “rescue” one from your local shelter, where it might otherwise become one of the 3 to 4 million homeless dogs, cats and rabbits euthanized every year. Your often tax-deductible adoption fee, usually around $50 includes spaying and neutering, as compared to the hundreds of dollars you’d pay a breeder or a pet shop, and for a veterinarian’s surgical fee.

Soothe Your Itchy Dog

Guest: Lilly Companion Animal Health

For itchy dogs that can’t have topical or oral steroids, bathe them with cool water alone. Cool water causes the blood vessels in the skin to constrict, making it more difficult for the “itchy substances” like histamine to make it to the skin’s surface. Bathing in warm water does just the opposite and can make your already itchy pet more uncomfortable.
