Rare Disease Research on World Stage

World Orphan Drug Congress brings together experts and advocates for latest news

Medical technology is making way for progress in the field of rare and genetic disease research and orphan drug development. In April of 2013, experts in the industry gathered in Washington D.C. for the World Orphan Drug Congress USA to share knowledge, brainstorm, overcome challenges and brings people’s attention to rare diseases.

The Balancing Act crew was on hand to film the conference, put on by Terrapin Inc., an international organizer of industry conferences and trade exhibitions, as part of the Balancing Act’s ”Behind the Mystery: Rare & Genetic Diseases” series.

The World Orphan Drug Congress USA, the largest global event for the advancement of rare disease research and orphan drug development, is dedicated to fostering partnerships between industry leaders, medical researchers, patient advocates and government officials. It is about speeding up drug development and expressing its value, from discovery to patient access.
