Merck Animal Health Promotes the Importance of Keeping Pets Healthy on "The Balancing Act" on Lifetime Television

Educational campaign teaches Pet Parents the importance of vaccination

(Pompano Beach, FL - August 15, 2012) With veterinarians seeing a decline in the number of dogs and cats that are being vaccinated, Merck Animal Health is working to help ensure pet owners understand the important role that vaccination plays in keeping pets healthy. The company's educational initiative, Vote for Vaccination, will be featured on the popular morning show "The Balancing Act?" on Lifetime TV. Make sure to tune in on August 21 at 7a.m. (ET/PT) as featured guest veterinarian Dr. Christopher Pappas discusses keeping pets in optimal health.

During the episode, viewers will learn about the best ways to take care of their pets' health through staying current with vaccinations. Dr. Pappas describes the difference between core vaccines (those that most pets should get) and non-core vaccines (those that are dependent upon the pet's lifestyle).

With help from puppet spokespets "Mutt and Kitty," viewers will also hear about the importance of regular visits to their veterinarian.

Merck Animal Health is one of the leading suppliers of canine and feline vaccines to veterinary professionals in the United States and across the globe. Their goal is to make sure 75 percent of all dogs and cats receive vaccinations to prevent outbreaks of diseases such as rabies and distemper.

"It was such a pleasure working with Merck Animal Health on "Balancing Act." Our viewers who are pet parents want to keep their pets as healthy as possible, and Merck Animal Health offers great information through their campaign to help them achieve it," says Doug Campbell, Founder and Executive VP of Programming for "The Balancing Act."
