CEE's "Financial Fitness for Life" and "Playful Economics" books provide financial literacy for children on everyday money matters

(Pompano Beach, FL - July 9, 2012) Too many children today are uneducated about the basics of financial responsibility. Tune in to "The Balancing Act" on Lifetime TV as Nan J. Morrison of the Council for Economic Education (CEE) appears on the Wednesday, July 11th show at 7 a.m. (ET/PT) to talk about integrating financial literacy into the daily classroom for children from kindergarten to high school.

As there is no state requirement to include financial education in the school curriculum, it can be difficult to find time to schedule this subject in the classroom. During the episode, Nan Morrison highlights how the CEE offers teachers and students resources such as the "Financial Fitness for Life" and "Playful Economics" books to help give children the tools to make responsible financial choices.

The CEE stresses how important learning financial fitness can be to children as they get older. Understanding what the stock market is and how it works, learning how to write a check, knowing the importance of one's credit score - these are just a few of the skills the CEE teaches children, and hopes to stress their importance to parents and teachers as well.

"It's been a pleasure having The CEE on "The Balancing Act". Their commitment to educating kids about money is very much needed in this day and age," says Doug Campbell, Founder and Executive VP of Programming for "The Balancing Act," Parents everywhere can use this information starting today to develop this essential life skill."
