Small and large fundraising events can help "Make Your Story a Movement"

(Pompano Beach, FL - August 02, 2012) Most people know someone who has battled cancer, either personally or through a loved one, friend, neighbor or co-worker. Lynette Bisconti, President of The Gateway for Cancer Research, SM will be featured on the signature women's morning show, "The Balancing Act," on Lifetime Television to encourage viewers to "Make Your Story a Movement" to help fight cancer now.

Make sure to tune in on Monday, August 6th at 7:00 am (ET/PT) to watch this 5th segment of the Gateway's "Fighting Cancer Now" series.

During the episode, Bisconti will talk about how individuals can take their personal story or journey through cancer and turn it into a movement to save lives. Viewers can make a difference in the fight against cancer with small or large fundraising events such as Golf for Gateway, Spare Time 4 A Cure - a bowling competition and raffle - or Team Demand events and activities.

The money raised goes toward clinical trials that are critical in the discovery of new and lifesaving treatment options. "The Gateway for Cancer Research's SM mission is to fund cancer research focused on helping cancer patients feel better, live longer and be cured now.

Jane Bingham, a cancer survivor and experienced fundraiser, will join the conversation in the studio to share her cancer story as well as how the idea of her unique and successful "Pink Hair Dare" fundraising event was born.

"Individual and group fundraisers are great examples of what can be accomplished by people who take personal stories and challenges and turn them into action to make the cancer journey better for others. All of us have the power to change the outcome for cancer patients. Get creative. Every dollar counts," says Lynette Bisconti, President of The Gateway for Cancer Research. SM
