Inspired by true events, Kinky Boots takes audiences from a gentlemen’s shoe factory in Northampton to the glamorous catwalks of Milan. Charlie Price is struggling to live up to his father’s expectations and continue the family business of Price & Son. With the factory’s future hanging in the balance, help arrives in the unlikely but spectacular form of Lola, a fabulous performer in need of some sturdy new stilettos.

The Balancing Act correspondent, Amber Milt, sits down with Tony and Grammy Award®-winning pop icon Cyndi Lauper to discuss the importance of embracing individuality and the ability to change the world by changing your mind – an uplifting message the show is bringing to audiences across the globe.

The segment also offers a glimpse into the production’s “Raise You Up” Community Youth Program, a partnership with the True Colors Fund (https://truecolorsfund.org/) that gives LGBT youth and their allies a look at careers in the commercial theatre industry by spending a day with professionals involved in the show – from the advertising and marketing teams, to the dance captain who teaches them how to strut their stuff on a Broadway stage.

“It’s really rewarding to know that the True Colors Fund and Kinky Boots’ “Raise You Up” community program is being supported by The Balancing Act,” said Lauper. “It means everything to me that we are giving LGBT youth and their allies a chance to experience Broadway and learn about careers in the theater from the folks who make the magic happen.”

Don’t miss this behind-the-scenes look at Kinky Boots, Friday, May 27 and June 3, 2016 at 7:30 a.m. (ET/PT) on The Balancing Act. To purchase tickets, learn more about where the show is headed next, and for even more exclusive content, go to www.BroadwayBalancesAmerica.com.
