Holiday Health for Food Allergies
Online community offers help for keeping the holiday season fun and safe for kids with food allergies
Food allergies have become more prevalent over the past 20 years and continue to rise. Peanuts, milk, eggs, soy…the list goes on and on and it can be frustrating and time-consuming to alter and plan a diet around food allergies, especially around the holidays.
As challenging as it can be for adults, it can be even more so for children and parents of children with severe food allergies.
Birthday parties, school lunches and family gatherings are just a few examples of the events parents of children with food allergies have to be aware of. Daily life is difficult enough, but once the holidays set in, it can be even harder for a parent to ensure the safety of their child with a food allergy no matter what the severity.
Kids With Food Allergies (KFA) – a division of the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America (AAFA) – is the nation’s oldest allergy charity, and now with one in 13 children being diagnosed with a food allergy, KFA has become a vital tool for families adjusting to raising children with this disease.
There is so much information out there, and so many people giving their opinions, it’s difficult to weed through it all and find out what is the best for your family. KFA is here to help.
The great news is that the Kids With Food Allergies website features an online community with 40,000 active members, and growing. KFA is celebrating its 10 year anniversary this year and offers a wealth of information to all families who are managing a child’s food allergy diagnosis at http://www.kidswithfoodallergies.org
