Give a Meal Program

Feeding America

Hunger in the USA is a bigger problem than you might think.  It doesn’t care where you live or what your socio-economic background is.  So if you’re looking for a way to give back this holiday season what better way than to help fight hunger right here in our own backyards.  Please join us as we speak with Maura Daly from Feeding America, where they have a program that helps provide 10 meals to families in need for only $1.00.

The Balancing Act

Fighting Hunger

Did you know that across America, 49 million people struggle to get enough to eat? Here's how to help during the holidays and beyond.

It is a sad but true fact that millions of Americans don’t have enough to eat.

When you think of hunger, who comes to mind? You might be surprised to learn that every day, children, working families, and even seniors on fixed incomes have to sacrifice food in order to pay for other things like rent, or heat.

In fact, across America, 49 million people struggle to get enough to eat.

In a country as abundant as America, it is shameful that so many people deal with hunger…and hunger hurts worse during the holidays.

That is why Feeding America, the nation’s leading domestic hunger-relief organization, works tirelessly day in and day out to feed people in need all year round.

The Feeding America network of food banks, which serves all 50 states, DC and Puerto Rico, is the only one of its kind in the United States. Together, they feed more than 46 million people each year—that’s MORE children, MORE families and MORE elderly than any other charitable organization in the country. Truly, they ARE feeding America.

Feeding America wants to do more, and with our help, they can. No matter where you are, you can:

  • volunteer
  • help advocate on behalf of people who face hunger
  • educate friends, family and colleagues about the problem
  • …and of course, you can donate food or funds.

For every $1 donate, Feeding America helps provide 10 meals to people in need.
One Dollar = 10 meals.

There isn’t much you can get for a dollar these days, but there is so much you can give with one. Visit http://www.feedingamerica.org to learn more about donating today!

Hunger is a silent problem, because you can’t tell a hungry person by looking at them. These difficult economic times have created a financial hardship for people all around you. But you can help.

Feeding America asks you to get involved. Donate. Volunteer. Educate. No action of help is too small; anything you can contribute helps Feeding America get one step closer to their vision of a “hunger free” America.

For more information on the many ways you can help, go to their website, http://www.feedingamerica.org, and find your local member food bank. If only one dollar can make a difference, think what your involvement can do.
