  • Women are less likely to receive feedback, especially if it is negative
  • Women are less likely to ask for help when they need it
  • Women are less likely to assume they can take on a new assignment if they don’t have 80% of qualifications (compared to men who will assume they can with 20%)
  • Women feel “less heard” in meetings, especially meetings with mostly men
  • While the firm offers work / life integration policies, women perceive they must make a choice between advancement and balance
  • Women may be reluctant to use flexible work arrangements for fear of reduced visibility
  • Perception of family responsibilities may cause managers to avoid giving challenging opportunities to women
  • Managers may perceive women want to stay at current level due to family needs, even if this is not the case
  • Women are more likely to believe they can keep their head down, work hard and accomplish a whole lot and they will eventually be “tapped” for promotion
  • Women are less likely to have sponsors or purposefully build a network of sponsors
