The best place to sell your cell

Tuesday, November 1st, 2011

“What’s the deal? Doesn’t it seem like cell phone manufacturers time the release date of the next generation iPhone or Droid with the exact moment you plunk down money on the “current version.”

So, what do you do with the gadgets you’ve outgrown when you’re ready for the latest and greatest? Stash them in a drawer? Nah, too messy. Toss them? God we hope not, landfills are full enough already. We have a better idea, sell your cell, or computer, or e-reader (basically any of your electronic relics) on Gazelle.com.

This site will help you appraise your old electronics, tells you how much they’ll pay you for it and you sit back and collect the cash. Find out how to recycle and sell your electronics so you can get green, while being green.”

Tame your out-of-control inbox

Thursday, September 22nd, 2011

Inbox overload. No one should have to suffer from this awful affliction. And yet tens of thousands, maybe even hundreds of thousands of email users are plagued by overstuffed inboxes every single day. But there is a cure. It’s a free service called OtherInbox, or “OIB” as the cool kids say.

OIB basically weeds through all your emails and pulls out the automated ones from the ones from real people and then files them in different folders. So, that sale site coupon will come into the OIB Shopping folder, but the credit card statement will go into the OIB Financial folder. Then you can look at what you want, when you want without having to sift through dozens of other emails clogging up your inbox. And best of all, that email list you ended up on, but never signed up for, well that can be moved into the OIB Unsubscribe folder where they’ll do the breaking up for you.

OIB works with Gmail, Yahoo and AOL and has a bunch of other nifty features we can’t wait to share with you. So watch how quickly and easily it tames Carley’s out-of-control inbox. Plus you can check out her adorable PJ’s.

Recipe storage and grocery shopping made easy.

Thursday, September 8th, 2011

Keeping track of recipes is a pain— they’re all over the place, yet never in the right place when it’s time to make dinner. And then, there’s the grocery list… which doesn’t do you much good when you head to the grocery store without it. Sure you could sift through all your cookbooks, or write “milk, eggs, bread” on your hand, but why, when there’s Ziplist?
Ziplist is a website and free app that is going to change the way you store recipes and shop for groceries. A total game-changer when it comes to simplifying mealtime. In a chicken rut? Well just pop onto Ziplist and peruse the hundreds of chicken recipes from some of the biggest names in food (Martha Stewart anyone?). With the click of one button the recipe is stored in a virtual recipe box, and with another click a grocery list of ingredients is instantly created for you. Ziplist is even kind enough to help you save money with coupons you can print before you go to the store. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg lettuce when it comes to Ziplist’s features— watch how Carley uses it to enhance her breasts. (That’s chicken, of course!)

Digital Storage for All of Life’s Information

Thursday, September 1st, 2011

Look around your house. Are you seeing stacks of papers that you keep meaning to go through? Boxes and files bulging with stuff you put there for safe-keeping, but couldn’t find what you need if your life depended on it. Don’t worry, we won’t judge, it’s the exact overload we were facing that made us think there has to be a better way.

Wouldn’t be amazing if you could store information you needed to remember in one place and more importantly, find it instantly, anytime, from anywhere. Good news! It exists, and it is a total game-changer.

Evernote is a website, a free app, and an extension that builds functionality into tons of programs you already use. If you can email it, scan it, type it, snap it, record it, or find it on the internet you can keep track of it all with Evernote.

You won’t believe how simple it is to use, watch the video then forget about forgetting important information ever again

Get A Personal Assistant. Siri-ously

Wednesday, August 24th, 2011

Sometimes it’s the smallest tasks that take the most time. And who doesn’t have a never ending to do list that seems impossible to get through? Wouldn’t it be great if you could have a personal assistant to take care of all that stuff for you? Guess what, there is an app for that. And it is Siri-ously amazing.
In this week’s Twirl check out Carley hanging out with her gal pal–the wonderfully talented singer, and typically time-challenged mom– Lisa Loeb. She’s looking to simplify her life, just like we all are. You’ll be as amazed as she was when we introduced her to Siri, a virtual assistant that is at your beck and call 24/7. Siri will send you reminders for things you need to do, find businesses and restaurants wherever you are, show you what kid’s events are going on, and even create a tweet, all without touching a keypad. This productivity app uses simple voice command, so you say it, Siri does it. Don’t you wish you could say the same about your family?

An app that whips your butt into shape.

Wednesday, August 3rd, 2011

Ah yes, remember that New Year’s resolution you made to get to the gym at least three times a week? How’s that goin’ for ya? Well, enough with the excuses, we found an amazing—and free—app that will whip your body into shape and is really fun to use.
Of all the fitness apps out there we fell in love with Nike Training Club app. It’s like having a personal trainer in the palm of your hand. Not only is it super slick, and really easy to navigate, but it also integrates your favorite music to get pumped up to straight from your iTunes playlists. Eye of the Tiger, baby! It has a bunch of workouts to choose from, videos on how to do them correctly, and even rewards you can unlock the more you work out. It’s only available for the iPhone, but we also really liked FitSync for Android as an alternative.
So no more excuses, Ladies. Your skinny jeans await!

Yapta Gets You Refunds from the Airlines

Thursday, July 7th, 2011

“>

The irony of airline travel is that the prices are highway robbery. Maybe it should be called airway robbery? No matter what tips and tricks you may have heard about finding the cheapest airfare there’s we actually found a way to avoid buyers remorse even after you’ve purchased your tickets.

It’s called Yapta and it’s a site that not only will help you find flights and track prices, but once you decide you’re ready to go ahead and press the buy button Yapta will keep tracking the price for you to see if it drops. If it does then Yapta will alert you and help you get a refund for the cost difference per ticket. Important!! You must go to Yapta which will redirect you to the airline’s website when you’re ready to buy your tickets so you can qualify for the refund. And fear not, we were able to find the lowest airfare prices like all those other travel websites.

Find out in this week’s Twirl the ins and outs of beating their airlines at their own game.
