At Long Last: Thinkin’ About Chillin’

August 30th, 2010

Hi Everyone! I am still here in the islands working on my fashion shoots and dreaming about the Fall. Yes, it’s true! While most of you are still wearing summer trends, enjoying the lightweight styles, colorful brights, fairy-tale pieces, accessories galore, I have been in Fall mode since the February fashion shows. I loved what they were showing on the runways then and what is coming into the stores now. So,as summer winds down and the days get shorter, watch as the Fall fashions move us towards a more familiar, simplistic adult attitude.

There are many fabulous trends this season, but the key is to shop smart. So, where to begin? Look at your favorite magazines and blogs J and see what the top trends are going to be. Then do a wardrobe assessment.  Many of the clothes that you have been wearing for summer do not need to be put in the back of the closet yet. They can become perfect transitions pieces…simply winterized by mixing, matching, and layering with some of the classic fall looks that you already own and a few fresh pieces you will be selecting shortly.

Each week I will be focusing on some of the important elements for the season….in essence a few items that LISA LOVES!

One of my favorite trends for fall is the new length of the skirt….long, long, long. After seeing plenty of leg for what seems like years, this length came just in time. I find the long skirt (which falls somewhere between ankle length and floor length) very familiar, feminine, and refreshing.

How to wear it? Mix it with a man-tailored white cotton shirt, a belt, and a cropped jacket, giving you a comfortable, effortless and sexy look that makes me wish for fall to come even sooner!

Dreaming of walking the city streets in the crisp fall air suddenly makes my heart go pitter pat.

Michael Kors, Rachel Roy, Richard Chai Love, and Ralph Lauren are some of the designers showing these chic little numbers and boutiques are now carrying racks and racks of fall fashions as well. So….it’s time to look around and decide what trend you want to wear.

As for me…I am already there!!!
